Good Bang for the Buck. July 24, 2010 Chance This one dumbell replaces a full set. The only downside is that it is very large. But it is easily overcome. I have had no problems with it. Just remember not to drop it.
Great buy June 5, 2010 Parveen Mehta (Chicago,IL) It's been about a month I have a pair of these with a stand. Quality is outstanding I have to say.Any luck?
Can't do a lot of squatting with dumbbells because these are dumbbells. Wish a 3-in-1 bench had come in for cheaper than what it is.But I don't think you can go wrong with this decision.
Excellent Product May 10, 2010 Charles L. Denio (El Paso, TX) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I read other reviews of this product and was a little hesitant to go to them for a couple of reasons: 1-complaints on the action of the dials and 2-complaints of the bulkiness. I found the dial action to be excellent...very easy to use and smooth! Also, I am not a large guy (5'9", 190 lbs), and I have used iron hex dumbbells for some time, hence the fears about the size...the dumbbells appear to be bulky on sight, but when actually using them, they proved not to be...in fact the length of the dumbbell is actually useful when using them for bench presses, 1-better dumbbell position to move from sitting to laying position and 2-helps to regulate form during exercise. I would HIGHLY recommend this product!!
Great full-set of weights! May 6, 2010 Dan Mancuso I've owned these for a year and a half now and have really enjoyed them. With the purchase of these and the Bowflex bench, I was able to cancel my gym membership and have saved quite a bit of money in the long run.
A few complaints:
1) The bars are really wide, so it's not really possible to do close-grip lifts that you could do with other dumbbells. I don't think there's really a way to fix this, and isn't a huge problem, but should be mentioned.
2) The bars require you to wear lifting gloves, or the grips will hurt your hands for anything more than 40lbs.
Anyway, other than those two things they're exactly like you expect. They're easy to switch weights, easy to lift out of the holders, etc.
Good compact weights April 27, 2010 Jonathan Andrew Pugh 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought these about 3 months ago and am pretty pleased with them so far. Agree with some of the reviews that they are kind of long for certain exercises, but are fine for most. Being able to switch weights quickly is really handy. Going up to 90lbs is going to be great for pretty much all the exercises I want to do. I could see needing more than 90lbs for some back exercises eventually, but I am not quite there yet. Once I go past that point I will probably have to get a full gym membership. An associate of mine has an older version of the 50lbs model and he actually had one of the small weights fall out of the unit in mid rep and although I haven't had that problem, when I am holding them over my head for things like bench press I always make sure that they are positioned in such a way so that if the holding mechanism did fall gravity would still hold it in place. This is actually the natural way to hold the db as you pick it up, so it is really easy. I strongly recommend lifting gloves as the handles aren't very comfortable for anything over 50lbs. I didn't buy the roller stand that comes with this although it would be handy, I am just to cheap to spend that much money when I can just put it on a stand I already have. Get this if you don't have a lot of room in your house and you want to save some money rather than buying a huge rack of weights.
