Great workout machine, assembly a little annoying. March 7, 2010 Amanda Sullivan I bought this and I am satisfied with the product. Assembly was a little annoying. There are some screws where you have to hold your nose just right to get them to go in straight, especially when it comes to the axle bar. I recommend turning the machine upside down if you can't get the holes to line up properly, then move the legs slightly until they match up.
Gazelle Freestyle February 10, 2010 G. Ashland (Brightwood, OR USA) I've only used it for a couple of weeks. It seems to work as advertised, is quiet and gives a pretty good workout. If it holds together as long as my old nordic track, it will prove to be a great value.
Quality of Gazelle Freestyle February 6, 2010 CW2 (Canton, MI) We have the original Gazelle Freestyle introduced a few years back. We purchased this one for our son who recently moved to his own place. The size of the newly purchased Gazelle has been reduced by about 25% and he doesn't feel it is as well made as our original.
Aside from all of that, he is enjoying his workouts.
Help! January 31, 2010 Jeffrey Bower We bought this because my parents have one and it's an excellent workout. I've used it before, and was winded after 10-15 minutes.
My husband put the machine together without too much trouble. He's good at putting stuff together and followed the instructions to the letter. We noticed there wasn't any way to adjust the tension. The digital timer thing doesn't work at all. We're going to have to send that part back.
I watched the DVD and read the instruction booklet and got no help regarding the tension. I thought I'd try it, so I got on and noticed how little exercise I was getting. After half an hour according to my TV clock, I wasn't winded, didn't break a sweat and my heart rate was barely above resting. I tried the different methods they suggest, such as putting your toes up or bending your knees or going really fast. But it wasn't exercise.
It's not like I'm a pro athlete, either, I'm very badly out of shape and at least 40 pounds overweight. I can barely ride my bike around the block. I wanted a low impact exercise to get me started. This is not exercise.
This is nothing like the one my parents have, there has to be something wrong. There's nothing in the instructions, DVD or otherwise that really address how to put the machine together or to tell us if we've made a mistake. Can anyone help?
Gazelle is better than I thought! January 21, 2010 N Morris (Marbletown, New York) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought the gazelle back about two years ago based on good reviews. It came, I put it together without any problems (my drinkholder was broken, but I didn't bother to let the company know because it wasn't a big deal.) I tried it out a few times but I didn't feel like I was getting enough of a workout so within a short time it was demoted to the extra bedroom where it remained unused. I joined a gym and all was fine. Fast forward to eight months ago. My husband and I moved to another state and are presently living in a very rural area. No decent gyms nearby. I gained about 10 pounds over the spring/fall/winter and needless to say.... my clothes aren't fitting well. It's cold and icy and no decent walking trails here in the winter so my husband and I decided we wanted to by an elliptical machine. I had been watching craigslist and so forth, but all the units that came available had crappy reviews and out of desperation I pulled the gazelle back out. I've been at it for two weeks now everyday. At first it felt like drudgery, and still not an excellent aerobic workout, but after a week or so, surprise...I was looking forward to my daily gazelling. It is evident in my jeans and pants that I have lost inches off of my thighs and butt. I think I will order the workout DVD's now to make my time even more worthwhile. So, that being said, I guess I didn't give it enough of a chance when we first got it and I think it's a pretty effective little unit for the cost. We've changed our plans to purchase a larger elliptical machine.
