3 out of 5 stars An issue, known by manufacturer but not handled before shipping causes problems   July 28, 2010
Wendy J Jones (Roanoke, VA USA)
I had been so excited to have finally made this purchase. The set up went well, and that is the last thing that went well for weeks. Literally the second minute into the very first workout, a pre-set workout, while shifting resistance levels, the machine broke. I reportd this to the manufacturer immediately, receiving the snottiest "customer service" rep I've spoken to in a long time, and from there it took 3 weeks to get fixed. First they said I would have a service call completed in 48 business hours. In that time the service rep did call, to tell me that when the parts arrived I was to call him and he'd schedule. The parts were shipped to a wrong address, finally arrived and the service rep arrived. The parts were never used! Apparently there is a known issue with the unit shifting resistances, but no one told me until the service rep arrived. Now that the service rep has completed his work the unit seems to work fine, thankfully. I still have the parts in the unopend box should anything happen again. My emails to the manufacturer during this lenghty process went unanswered. The vendor from whom I purchased the unit refused to assist in this process. I will not ever buy from them again. What happened to standing behind your product?

Now that I can use the unit, the pre-set work outs seem to cover a broad variety so many could use the machine. I don't think the little games they have on the unit to encourage a more strenuous work out are of all that much value. I workout hard to begin with and catch up on news while doing so. Others may really enjoy them.

5 out of 5 stars Great machine for this price point   July 3, 2010

Item arrived on time, took about 2.5 hours to put together. I HIGHLY suggest using an allen wrench attachment on your power drill for assembly. Something we thought of about 1.5 hours into assembly! Makes assembly much faster. The machine is smooth, screen is nice and bright, haven't yet played any games but it offers strong resistance.

4 out of 5 stars Smooth, Solid and Quiet   May 29, 2010
R. Balas (USA)
I stripped out a couple of the bolts that hold the 2 main pieces of the frame together while assembling it but it's holding up just fine so far. It's quieter and smoother than my previous Proform. I have used it 15 times in the last 30 days for 50 minutes each workout. There is only a slight side to side "wobble", but it seems to be the frame flexing and not a "leveling" issue. The movement only about 1/8 of an inch or so. I don't feel it but can see it in the mirror in the workout room. Not a problem. All in all, I am pleased with it.

1 out of 5 stars Buyer beware   May 27, 2010
B. Sweet (Olympia WA USA)
The proForm Elliptical Trainer with gameFit Technology was a big disappointment. Assembly was harder than it had to be because most of the screws were hex screws that stripped when pressure was applied, so all the screws and holes had to be lubricated before fastening. Some bolts could not be made to go flush where they were to go. After assembled we could not get it balanced with the feet provided and had to use spare wood lying around to keep it from rocking. The display has revolutions instead of a useful distance traveled like kilometers or miles. The games were small and difficult to play because of their size. If you switch between modes (games, preprogramed, and manual) your time and calories reset. The MP3 dock and speakers worked well. We chose to return it and it cost us $100 shipping.

4 out of 5 stars A great workout!   February 25, 2010

We really enjoy the workout on this elliptical. The game feature is fun, however it does not "distract" you as much as you wish! The workouts are gym quality and you totally feel it the next day. The only complaint we have is that the heartrate monitor does not seem very accurate. I am not sure if there is a problem with the sensor or what, as this is not a show stopper for the actual workout. My goal is to do 30 mins/day and right now I am up to 25. Its very study and the stride is very smooth even though I am short and my other half very tall. We are both very glad that we purchased this model over the other ones and I can honestly say that I like working out on it.
